This casting system consists of an inflow channel, a die heating unit, a casting belt comprising a drive chain and dies, a cooling fan, a rotating plate to quickly replace the collecting containers, and an electrical control system. Under the standard procedure, the molten liquid aluminium is conducted to the DeSOx casting system via a channel system.
The mass of molten metal is guided manually by tilting the holding furnace. The molten aluminium flows into the inflow channel via a system of channels, from where it is continuously poured into the dies through six casting nozzles. The fill level of the inflow channel is regulated manually by tilting the holding furnace. The fill level of the dies (and thus the weight of the DeSOx) is regulated by adjusting the speed of the DeSOx casting belt.
The dies then pass through a system of cooling fans and are cooled to under 250°C. At the end of the casting belt, the dies tilt at around 150°C and the DeSOx falls into the collecting container. DeSOx is primarily used in the steel industry for deoxidisation purposes.
